AIM CURRICULUM

Our curriculum brings together high-quality teaching and inclusive practice so that every child can succeed. It sets out a clear, shared approach across our schools, ensuring that our vision is consistently translated into effective classroom practice. Inclusion is not an addition, but the foundation of how we teach, enabling all pupils to access an ambitious curriculum, develop independence and build secure, lasting knowledge. Through this approach, we prepare every child not only for success in school, but for the opportunities and challenges of life beyond it.

A Framework for Access,

Independence and Meaningful Learning

OUR AIM

Our ultimate aim is to prepare every child for life.

Through our AIM approach, we ensure that all pupils have full and equitable access to an ambitious curriculum, with inclusion built into everyday classroom practice rather than added as an afterthought. We place a strong emphasis on developing independence, so that pupils grow in confidence, learn to regulate themselves and take increasing responsibility for their learning. At the same time, we prioritise meaningful learning that is retained, applied and connected over time, enabling pupils to use what they know with purpose. Together, this ensures that every child is not only successful in school, but is well prepared for the demands, opportunities and challenges of life beyond it.

LAYERED APPROACH

A Layered Approach to Teaching and Learning

If we want all pupils to access, succeed and become independent learners, we cannot leave this to chance.
We must deliberately design a clear, shared approach that ensures our vision is consistently realised in every classroom.

The layers in our model provide a clear progression from vision to impact, ensuring that what we believe is consistently translated into what we do and the difference it makes for pupils.

We begin with why we do this (our purpose), which sets our ambition for all pupils. This is supported by what we prioritise (the key drivers), which define the essential elements of effective teaching and learning. These are then enacted through how we deliver this (core approaches and pedagogy), which establish the consistent, research-informed ways we design teaching, learning and environments across our schools. This is made visible through what it looks like in classrooms, where specific strategies, routines and interactions bring the model to life. Finally, we focus on what this leads to (impact), ensuring that our approach results in improved outcomes for pupils, including greater access, increasing independence and secure, lasting learning.

Together, the layers move from intent to implementation to impact, ensuring clarity, consistency and meaningful outcomes in every classroom.
